Due to COVID-19, until further notice, Dr. Burton-Teed will be doing tele-medicine consultations only.
My goal is to help you to identify and treat the root causes of your sub-optimal health so that you can regain your vitality and live your healthiest life. Ideally, I’ll educate and empower you to get yourself well enough that you no longer need my help, but I’ll be here if you do.
My approach uses a range of naturopathic modalities ranging from nutrition, nutrigenomics, and nutraceutical therapy, herbal medicine, IV therapy and vitamin injections, environmental medicine and detoxification, Chinese medicine and acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, and counselling in a holistic approach to patient-care.
Areas of focus
Energy Enhancement, Gut Health, Thyroid, Adrenal and Hormone Balance, Detox and Liver Cleanse, Weight Loss Support, Inflammation and Pain Reduction, Brain, Mood and Sleep Enhancement, Fertility Support, Immune Support, and Healthy Aging. This translates to mean that I treat those suffering with named diseases (see below) or those seeking preventative support.
Who I treat
Most of my patients are suffering in one way or another. They have tried conventional medicine and have either not made any headway or improved one symptom only to get a new one as a side effect of the medication that they’ve started taking. Some of them just feel a bit off (low energy, brain fog, and ennui, for example) but don’t have anything showing up in their conventional labs and are deemed “fine” by their traditional doctors. And, some patients come to me in a very bad way. They have been very unwell for a long time and finally turn to a Naturopathic Doctor as their last shot. They’re either fed up with the status quo, curious to see if there is another way, or desperate for something else. While other patients just have a strong knowing that natural medicine should be their first port of call. I try to meet patients where they are and go from there. That sometimes means baby-stepping our way to health starting from a place of severe imbalance, and it sometimes means adding advanced medical therapies to their already robust healing regimes. The majority of my patient population is seeking treatment for one of the following: chronic fatigue, food allergies, IBS, IBD, eczema, asthma, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, adrenal fatigue, loss of libido, acne, PMS, PMDD, PMT, heavy metal toxicity, obesity, metabolic syndrome, type II diabetes, fibromyalgia, insomnia, anxiety, depression, ADD, ADHD, brain fog, Alzheimer’s, dementia, suboptimal fertility, autoimmunity, Celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and weakened immunity.
One of my main tools is a program that I designed called Slendever. Slendever is a wellness and weight loss program that typically results in weight loss, lowered inflammation, hormone balancing, gut healing, improvements in energy and sleep and an overall boost in your sense of well-being. I designed this program because I realized that the skills, protocols and patient-education contained within it were the fundamentals that I used in nearly every patient interaction regardless of the condition we were addressing. “Treat the gut” was the phrase that echoed throughout my medical education, so that is at the heart of the program. We do that by teaching you to tune-in to your body (using a four-step process) in order to identify what in your diet is and is not working for your specific physiology.
